ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS
The Emergency Management Center has a strong interest in research
on environmental issues including hazardous and nuclear waste disposal,
chemicals in the environment, environmental equity, environmental
mediation, assessment of environmental risks and impacts, and other
related topics. We have experience in both applied research, applications
of research, and integrated assessment. Our computer software model
PADRE; designed to estimate dosage and dosage reduction for chemical
accidents; is one of the firt attempts to integrate atmospheric
dispersion, human behavior, and health effects into a single model.
In addition, we have considerable experience with NEPA (National
Environmental Policy Act) analyses including ones concerning energy
production facilities, energy conservation programs, incineration
technologies, and water projects.
