Basic Technical Classroom Courses
CSEPP Chemical Awareness
This 8-hour course is designed to familiarize
participants with the chemical stockpile and its components, the
Chemical Stockpile Disposal Program (CSDP), and the Chemical Stockpile
Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP). Participants will be able
to recognize chemical agent characteristics, signs and symptoms
of agent exposure, and learn how to avoid contact with agents in
an off-site incident involving the accidental release of one or
more chemical agents (nerve agents, such as VX, GA, and GB and blister
agents, such as sulfur mustard).
Specifically, at the end of this training
program the participant should be able to describe the types of
chemical agents stored in each location, describe the major emergency
planning steps for protecting people in the event of a chemical
incident, describe how to avoid contact with chemical agents, and
descrie the effects of weather and terrain on the movement of chemical
agents.
ACT FAST
(Agent Characterization and Toxicity First Aid and Special Treatment)
This 8-hour course is designed to prepare
emergency medical personnel to recognize and provide first response
treatment to persons accidentally exposed to nerve and blister agents.
The objective of this training program is to prepare participants
to respond to an off-installation scene involving an accidental
release of one or more chemical agents (nerve agents, such as VX,
GA, and GB and blister agents, such as sulfur mustard).
Specifically, at the end of this training
program, the participant should be able to describe the potential
hazards of nerve and blister agents (what they are, how they spread,
and how they work) to identify the signs and symptoms of nerve and
blister agent exposure.
