Modeling/ Information Systems
A focus of the Emergency Management
Center (EMC) is the application of computer technology to emergency
management from both an analytical and applied perspective. The
EMC has developed the Emergency Management Information System (EMIS)
which is a state of the art client-server computer system for managing
information in an emergency. That system has been modified and deployed
by the Army to installations storing hazardous chemical agents.
In addition, we have developed PADRE, the Protective Action Dosage
Reduction Estimator model to aid planners in developing Protective
Action Guides for chemical weapons accidents, and converted the
Army's D2PC atmospheric dispersion model into user-friendly Windows
and Mac OS applications for analyzing chemical weapons accidents.
We have also helped develop OREMS (the Oak Ridge Evacuation Modeling
System), a state-of-the-art, quantitative network model for regional
evacuation planning studies. We specialize in developing multi-platform
applications using object oriented programming.
